Long Buckby Machine Knitters One of the best machine knitting club sites in the UK. The site is kept up to date and has plenty to read including hints and tips, free patterns, photographs and links to other clubs in the UK.

Rare Bird Liz Welch is the most amazingly creative person I know. She works with Friendly Plastic, and is a true master of this material, writing books, making DVD's and teaching workshops to pass on her vast knowledge.

The Nottingham DOT Group "Designs On Textiles" is a small group (currently 8 members) who use the computer as a design tool for their textile work.
I am a member of this group.
Ruddington Framework Knitters' Museum A local independent museum, it's collections and displays illustrate the story of framework knitting, from its inception to obsolescence, and its demonstrators help keep the craft alive today. Since early 2012 the shop has become known as The Textile Emporium selling mainly textile and knitted crafts from Local Makers including myself. It is well worth a visit.
Metropolitan Set in rural Cheshire, Metropolitan has everything for the machine knitter. They stock all makes of machines, accessories, spares, patterns and yarns. They run many varied courses, both on the premises and by post, do repairs and sell by mail order to the whole world. I also teach Overlocking and Wire jewellery courses there.

The Guild of Machine Knitters

The Guild Of Machine Knitters LogoAims: To increase awareness of machine knitting as a craft, to provide help and encouragement to all knitters, to encourage and maintain a high standard of craftsmanship, to encourage young people to take up the craft, to foster these aims by the award of certificates, to organise Guild shows and exhibitions, to liaise with manufacturers and suppliers, to foster links between UK knitters and those overseas and to promote greater media awareness. The Guild also have an excellent Yahoo Group for members to send emails and upload files and images.
