One-way stretch iron-on nylon 1m-£4.00,2m-£7.50,4m-£14.00

Nylon is approx. 60” (150cm) wide, and is available in white only.
Use to back fair-isle or single motifs to cover the floats.
Iron on to lengths of knitting to produce “material” for the cut and sew technique.
Ideal for stabilising knitted skirts preventing them from seating or dropping.
Use for easy cut and sew neckline technique and stabilising shoulders. (Instruction sheet available £1)
Cut into narrow strips and iron along cut and sewn edges which gives a superbly neat bound edge anchoring all cut ends and/or hiding stitching.
Sold in cut lengths (as above) although longer lengths can be ordered.
Free factsheet on how to use iron-on nylon with every purchase.

Strip Nylon - 1" wide - 10 metres £1.50

Available in Black, this is a fine knit nylon fabric which curls when stretched. It can be applied to machine knitting as a cover and stabiliser for raw edges as it does not add bulk or change the handle of the knitting.
Pull the nylon to find the natural curl and insert the raw edge within the curl. Stitch on with a sewing machine. Can be trimmed for a narrower width.
You can also feed the nylon through a 12mm bias binding maker to fold it and then press it with a medium heat iron. Apply as bias binding, though this will have to be finished by hand and cannot be used for very thick knits. This gives a superbly neat finish.
Used flat, it makes an excellent strong yet non-bulky casing to insert elastic or drawstrings.
Ideal for use with Cut and Sew Waistcoat.

Schmetz "Enormous eye" sewing machine needles £3.50 per packet of 5 (sizes 80, 90 or 100)

Originally developed for machine embroiderers, to enable unusual and interesting threads including Lurex to be used. I have had great success in sewing up machine knitted garments using fine yarns e.g. brights, fine cottons and wools, O.E.S. acrylic and smooth 2/30's. Use your sewing machine to wind yarn on to the machine bobbin as well.
Excellent if your eyesight is failing! and good to use for ordinary sewing.

Schmetz Twin machine needles 2.5mm & 4mm. (size 75 stretch ) £3.50 each

With free information sheet. Twin needles can be used on nearly all modern sewing machines. Using straight stitch and a 2.5mm. needle, the seam produced will stretch making it ideal for sewing up knitting or stretch fabric. I use the 4mm. needle to topstitch necklines, hems and cuffs on knitted materials. The needles sew two parallel lines of straight stitching on the upper side and the bobbin thread locks these together on the underside producing a stretchy finish.
