Sewing Machine Feet Diagrams
Clip On Type - most modern machine have this type of fitting, however it depends on which manufacturer as to which type you require.
I have very limited stock left of these - mainly Pfaff 6mm and 9mm wide and older style Singer and 9mm Janome Triple cording foot
Short Shank - These were the most common style of feet until clip on feet became the norm on modern machines. It is possible to buy a shank which screws on and allows your machine to take clip on feet which are much quicker and easier to change over.
Long Shank - these were common on sewing machines from the 1960's and 1970's. Note they are much longer in height than short shank. It is possible to buy a shank which screws on and allows your machine to take clip on feet which are much quicker and easier to change over.
Bernina - see also Bernina page- I used to stock Bernina feet, but there are so many different fittings these days it is easier to refer people to Bernina stockists. I will mention though, that it is possible to buy a Bernina adaptor which fits on to Bernina machines, which will allow short shank screw on or clip on with a short reach adaptor to fit a Bernina machine. Then most generic feet can be fitted. This is very useful if you have a Bernina machine and another of a different make.
Bernina Open toed foot on Bernina machine
Bernina adaptor fitted on to Bernina machine, with a short reach adaptor and clip on open toe foot. Most generic feet can be fitted. This is very useful if you have a Bernina machine and another of a different make.
